On Wednesday, January 22, the Linsly Girls basketball team came out on top in a tough matchup against hometown rivalry, Wheeling Central, at home. The Central girls, who were undefeated, put up a tough game. However, led by Haylen Cook, the Linsly girls won with a score of 68-60. Haylen scored 27 points, had 15 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals for the Cadets. Irina Margineanu, only a freshman, scored 11 points, had 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 blocks. Irina shot a couple of 3-pointers in the first quarter, overall contributing to the Cadets’ success. Jade Purpura shot 13 points with 6 rebounds, and Abby White shot 12. After a bittersweet season, with numerous injuries and struggles, the Linsly girls gave it their all to win against the Maroon Knights. Great job girls!
