Extravaganza Rehearsals Underway!

Last week was a big week for Linsly’s Fine and Performing Arts Department, as students began Extravaganza rehearsals! On Sunday, January 12, the first “opener” rehearsal took place. The opening act is a key part of the show and is special because it is the only group act where members must audition to be a part of it. Additionally, on the following days, high school novelty acts rehearsed after school, and middle school classes started learning and practicing their dances in choir class during school.

The Linsly Extravaganza is the longest running variety show in the Ohio Valley. Each year it is enjoyed by parents, family, and friends of Linsly. It has become a yearly tradition that takes place at The Capitol Theater in Wheeling.

This year will be Mrs. Bond’s third year choreographing and directing the Extravaganza.

Over the years, she says she has learned “…everything does not have to be perfect. Of course, I want the acts to look polished and professional-level…but it means more to everyone if there is a sense of pure enjoyment and accomplishment coming from the performers themselves.” Additionally, each year she has been impressed with “the amount of students who can tumble, pick up choreography quickly, and are willing to just go for it!”

According to Mrs. Bond, this Extravaganza will have new features and surprises! Linsly students are anxious to continue practicing and make the show a success for all who come to watch.
