The 2025 Ron Mauck OVAC Wrestling happened Saturday with the semi-final and championships at Wesbanco Arena. Ten boys from Linsly competed in this annual event. Brody Cottrill (senior), Taven Mayo (senior), Griffen Kernick (senior), Preston Hartley (sophomore), Rocco Troullous (sophomore), Landon Cottrill (sophomore), Elliot Wade (freshman), Georgie Mamakos (freshman), Brock Humphrey (freshman), and Sawyer Palian (freshman) competed on Saturday. Over forty schools participated, and Linsly made history that night. Three wrestlers advanced to the semi-finals, with the two freshmen making it into the finals. Brock Humphrey placed first in the 106-pound weight class, Georgie Mamakos claimed first in the 132-pound weight class, and Brody Cottrill finished fourth in the 215-pound weight class. This marks the first time a Linsly freshman has won first place in this yearly event, and to make it even more remarkable, two freshmen won this impressive title.
Georgie Mamakos reflects on the season to date saying, “It has been an exciting season so far, and I am excited for the years to come.”
Congratulations to the Linsly wrestling team for their accomplishments and successes so far!
