Friday the 11th, The Linsly School football team defeated the St. Clairsville Red Devils with a nail-biting game. The final score was 32-29. The game was an extremely close call with St. Clairsville almost taking home the win, but with only four seconds left Linsly’s quarterback, Landon Cotrill, threw the game winning pass to wide receiver, Chris Upton, scoring the final touchdown, making the score go from 26-28 to a winning 32-29!
The Linsly “home” game was hosted at Bethany College field. Despite the light travel, parents, staff, alumni, and many students arrived making it feel like a real home game. The cadet spirit was unbelievable!
Head Coach Depew had a lot of positive feedback from last Friday’s game and is looking forward to seeing how this team plays moving forward after this victory.
“I am happy for our players to get a big win over a local program in such dramatic fashion.” Depew stated. “We played from behind most of the night, but we never gave up and made a couple amazing plays to take the victory.”
This game has grown a vast amount of confidence for this team moving forward. The coaches are proud of the resilience and toughness the Cadets showed throughout all four quarters.
Another great achievement for the Linsly football team was WTOV9 naming them football team of the week after this well-deserved win.
Overall, this was an exciting game for the Cadets being the first win of the season! We cannot wait to see more victories come! Way to go Cadets!
