Last Wednesday, we all had the Linsly staple food we’ve all been waiting for: orange chicken!
Starting at 10:00 A.M., nine meal staff members continuously fried and sauced the chicken until 12:45 P.M. to make sure the entire student body got a fresh, hot lunch. The Linsly dining service and dining staff served approximately 432 orange chicken lunches (390 for students and 42 for faculty) on Wednesday, September 16. The bestselling school item took gallons of orange sauce, 220 pounds of chicken, and 15 pounds of rice to make.
Statistics aside, the Linsly orange chicken is a schoolwide phenomenon. While the origin of the sauce is a secret, the Linsly School has been serving this fantastic meal for over 20 years using the same orange chicken recipe. It has become a favorite across the school, being the most popular meal purchased and number one selling item in school (followed by the spicy chicken sandwich).
While most people returned for more than seconds, don’t be upset if you missed it. Because of the four-week meal rotation system, we can expect this bestselling food item once a month until menu shift after winter break.
