Chances are if you’ve gone to a Linsly Football Game, you’ve seen and probably heard the Cadet Marching Band.
The Linsly Marching Band has had phenomenal success this year, with 15 members being the foundation for the Field Show “Amplified” featuring the songs “Uma Thurman, A Sky Full of Stars, Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone, and Thunderstruck!
This is the first time Linsly has had a Marching Band playing on the field with choreography since the 1980s. Even though there are only 15 members, they are still a mighty group. For some context, when Mr. Morgan started the Linsly Pep-Band back in 2022, there were very few members. Since 2022, that number has grown to 15 and is still increasing as the weeks go on.
For the older Members in the Band, they have expressed how this year has really meant to them
Maxim Blinco, the Drum Major, said, “I thought band this year would be like last years fun but kinda dry and needed people, but, yes, I was happy to see more people this year and also seeing the kids in band get along better with what I feel a better view from the community and a better outcome from their band peers. Always, of course, there’s room for improvement, but that’s in everything so we work with what we have and we have each other.”
Another member of the band, Evan Murray, who is the Low Brass Section Leader, said, “It has definitely been a very exciting year, and it has been awesome to see everybody do so well. All the support we’ve gotten has been amazing. It’s felt great to finally be on the field during halftime, after waiting since 7th grade. It’s great to see the new interest in the two middle school trombone players sitting in, and to see my other fellow low brass grow as great players. It’s overall been a great year, and I’m excited for the future.”
With the positive mindsets and the happiness shared across the Band, everyone is excited to continue building on the great legacy that has been started!
