In December, the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra hosted its yearly event, Symphony on Ice. The performance showcased figure skaters, both local and professional, to start the holiday season. In addition, local high school choirs accompanied the orchestra on a multitude of joyful songs. Conductor, John Devlin, started the show with “Rocket Sleigh” to get everyone in the Christmas spirit!
This year, five Linsly figure skaters, Aubrey Dunkin, Sophia Tsikouris, Anna Tsikouris, Sydney Burke, and Londyn Mistovich, participated in the performance. These girls are a part of the Wheeling Skate Club and skated to the hit Christmas songs, All I Want For Christmas Is You and Silent Night. To put together these spectacular numbers, the skaters practiced weekly from late October until early December. Alongside these performers, professional skaters Mariah Bell and Rebecca Sun stunned the audience with amazing spins and jumps.
Thank you to Linsly students Hunter Burkey and Cecilia Sweeney for their time volunteering for this event.
If you missed Symphony on Ice this year, make sure to mark your calendar next year for a wonderful start to the holiday season!
