Bonjour, Mardi Gras!

Bonjour, Mardi Gras!

Have you ever had king cake? Well, what about jambalaya? If you have not had those dishes, maybe you have heard of them. The French Club celebrated Mardi Gras through eating the celebrations’ authentic cuisines! The students cooked, brought, and enjoyed foods like king cake, jambalaya, baguettes, cheeses, and crepes. For some background information, the celebration was celebrated on March 4th this year. It falls each year on the day before Ash Wednesday. The meaning of Mardi Gras is often referred to as “Fat Tuesday” because it is the last day before Lent to enjoy all the delectable “fat” foods. The French Club definitely enjoyed all of the amazing foods to celebrate Mardi Gras. The students made jambalaya which includes spices, rice, shrimp, chicken, and sausage. It is a very flavorful dish and was the first time many students have ever tried it! Students also signed up and brought baguettes, croissants, Boursin, Brie, Nutella, and other items like silverware. In addition, Mrs. Brutto brought her homemade, delicious crepes and strawberry cream cheese for the students to try. It was an amazing experience to try new foods and come together for a Mardi Gras celebration!
