Day In The Life of Senior Student, Zoe Zatezalo

Over the next few months, the Linsly Line plans to shine the spotlight on a student from each grade and show their day-to-day life. This week, senior Zoe Zatezalo, goes through her day as a Linsly student.

Zoe is a lifer at Linsly, and has attended since the 5th grade. In school, she is a tutor, prefect, involved in the school plays, and is the former president for the National Honor Society. Outside of school, Zoe is passionate about working out, focusing on lifting, calisthenics, cardio, and yoga. Furthermore, she loves to read, cook, and works at a hair salon. In the future, Zoe plans to double major in neuroscience and psychology at college, with a minor in philosophy.

Zoe starts her morning bright and early, waking up at five to get ready for her morning workout. She works out every morning typically from 5:15-6:30, where she lifts weights, does calisthenics, and exercises cardio. After, Zoe has breakfast consisting of homemade greek yogurt and granola along with berries. Finally, Zoe gets ready for school and leaves her house by 7:50 to get to school on time.

Zoe starts her day with economics, where her class does a warm up discussion post, takes notes, and does an activity pertaining to the lesson. Zoe expresses that she enjoys the class because of the fact that they learn real world skills like budgeting and personal finance.

From there, she heads to statistics. The class typically takes notes and uses the lesson to do a worksheet. Zoe explains the importance of asking questions and taking detailed notes, as it helps her perform well in the class.

After, Zoe eagerly heads to Mrs. Zatezalo’s room for her favorite part of the day, advisor. She expresses how it allows for a break in the day, where she gets to catch up with friends and eat delicious food.

Next, Zoe goes to design, thinking, and entrepreneurship class. Currently, the group is working on project designs for a local business, Enchanted Parties by Carrie. Zoe explains how the class allows for her creativity to be expressed through her designs.

Then, Zoe walks to lunch, which she explains is very nice as the weather has warmed up and she is able to eat outside.

After lunch, AP Language and Composition is Zoe’s next class. The seniors recently finished their long process of research, and are now discussing the book they are reading. Specifically, they focus on rhetorical appeals that the author uses and how they can utilize them in their writing.

Zoe expresses her love for reading, commenting, “It’s interesting to see how people think. You learn more about humanity and the way society functions through their different perceptions of ideas. It helps me adapt to different kinds of thinking and see others’ perspectives and understand them.”

Lastly, Zoe has AP Biology. In class, there are typically lectures on different topics, and they work in their biology book. Also, the class performs occasional labs, recently learning the process of making aspirin.

After school, Zoe tutors math on Mondays and Thursdays for an hour. From there, she goes straight to work at a hair salon and works until around seven o’clock. Once Zoe gets home, she eats dinner, which is usually chicken, rice, and veggies. Then, she works on her homework for an hour to an hour and a half. Finally, she is able to get ready for the night and enjoys her favorite activity before bed, reading. Currently, she has enjoyed reading White Nights by Fyodor Dostoevsky. After closing her book, she goes to sleep around 10:30.

Zoe explains that her favorite part of her day is working out and getting to read, where she is able to have time to herself.

Thank you, Zoe, for taking us through your day as a Linsly student!
