Waltzing Through The Weekend: Linsly Students Participate in Annual Cotillion

This past Saturday, the first of February, the Wheeling Symphony Auxiliary held its annual Viennese Winter Ball. The ball is a fundraiser to benefit the Symphony and is a great way for twenty local seniors to display their accomplishments over their high school career. The Auxiliary chooses ten female and ten male students to participate and learn how to ballroom dance. These students are chosen for their outstanding volunteer hours for the Symphony and their honorable character.

This year, ten Linsly seniors were chosen to participate, including Katerina Spanos, Olivia Creely, Olivia Rosenthal, Victoria Walsh, Patrick Christ, Caleb Dodd, Rhys Poole, Jackson Bond, Vaughn Crile, and Kaleb Gardill. The event was held at the Glessner Auditorium at Oglebay’s Wilson Lodge with Austrian decor to set the scene. The night began with The Grand March and the presentation of Cotillion members, followed by dinner, the Parade of Desserts, and then featured dancing with the Cotillion participants. To finish the evening, attendees enjoyed the music of the Vince Villanova Big Band and were invited to join the dancing in celebration.

Additionally, six students from the area are chosen for their volunteer hours to be pages. These juniors include Lili Blakely, Sydney Gilman, Claire Carson, Aubrey Dunkin, Reese Maroney, and Analise Baker. During the evening, the pages greet the guests by curtsying, selling raffle tickets, and then presenting the Parade of Desserts.
