Above and Beyond: Mr. Brubaker’s Journey at Linsly

As The Linsly Line is honoring its long-serving teachers, Mr. Bill Brubaker is up next. Mr. Brubaker has been working at Linsly for 45 years. He joined the Linsly family in the 1980’s and has overseen new headmasters, teachers, buildings and even had many of his first students’ children in class. Mr. Brubaker is an important asset of the Linsly community by having over 20 roles in his time here. He was dorm master for 9 years in the 80’s, a lower school and upper school swim coach, and assisted in JV Baseball for two years. He has advised two clubs, including History Club and Model United Nations, which he still runs to this day. He has been the Social Studies Department Chair and Physical Education Department Chair. He has helped students from the day he got to Linsly as well as currently, where he certifies student lifeguard. An unknown fun fact is that Mr. Brubaker volunteered to run the school bookstore for six years in 1982. OVAC also awarded him with the title of OVAC Small School Men’s and Women’s Coach of the Year and Linsly awarded him the John and Ann Harmon Teacher Award for teaching math and history courses. Ultimately, Mr. Brubaker retired two years ago from teaching, but he decided to stay at Linsly to do attendance, which is what many people know him to do today.

In his free time, Mr. Brubaker enjoys spending time with his wife and dog named Milo. He also enjoys reading and collecting sports cards. After his 45 years at Linsly, he says that his favorite thing about Linsly is the collegiality. The Linsly community is so grateful to have Mr. Brubaker as a part of their family. His dedication shows just how much he impacts Linsly and cares for the school. His countless sacrifices and selfless attitude for the students and fellow teachers is unmatched. The Linsly School is so grateful for Mr. Brubaker and his contributions to the school! Thank you, Mr. Brubaker!
