Mrs. Zatezalo has been an English teacher at Linsly for seven years. She teaches Linsly’s junior class and is one of our favorite role models at the school. The most recent project her junior class has worked on was composing an essay about Othello.
At least a decade ago, Mrs. Zatezalo switched her career to become a teacher. Her career first began in journalism and public relations, and she holds a Bachelor of Science degree in communications with a specialization in journalism. She also holds a secondary English education certificate that allows her to teach grades 5th-adults. Mrs. Zatezalo attended Ohio University to gain her Master of Art degree in English.
Mrs. Zatezalo chose to teach English because she has a passion to teach young adults how to write, and being a writer and editor really showed her this. She wants to change how English is taught and believes that work shouldn’t just be assigned. She utilizes models and mentor texts to help her students understand the material more. Being a teacher allows her to share he passion with students and share her love for the written word. She remarks:
Every person is a writer, he or she just has to discover a unique voice.
Mrs. Zatezalo
She loves all things green: avocados, plants, and Grogu are just some of the items she listed. She is very connected to nature as a whole and does yoga, gardening, cooking, hiking, and reading.
We are very glad to have Mrs. Zatezalo as a part of our family. She has been an important member of the Linsly community and is a great role model for everyone. She really pushes her students to be the best they can be and strives to be the best teacher she can be!
