Smile – It’s Almost Halloween!

Smile – It’s Almost Halloween!

What do you mean? It’s almost Halloween, shouldn’t you be Smiling

As everyone knows, Halloween is rapidly approaching. Students love candy, costumes, and more. Whether it be watching scary movies, trick or treating, or even decorating, everyone celebrates it in their way.

Speaking of scary movies, Smile, a psychological thriller, was released on September 30, 2022. It’s considered one of the first horror movies of the spooky season.

For a movie to be good, the plot has to be strong. Thankfully, it throws some new twists on previously used ideas, keeping them fresh.

The main character, Dr. Rose Cotter, experiences an incredibly traumatic event regarding one of her therapy patients. After the tragedy, her life is consumed by a monsoon of horrific events. The only way out of her dire new reality is to confront her devastating past. Can she do it successfully and survive? Watch the movie to find out!

The plot sounds interesting, and not too overdone, but the reviews of the movie have been rather concerning. As with everything shown to the public, some people love it while others hate it. On average, the movie got a four-star review; however, the reasons why it was either really good or really bad are the same.

Everything in the media is based on perspective, and the most controversial thing about the movie was the execution of the plot. People said that the plot was good, but the ending could have been better, and the jump scares could have been more well done. On the flip side, a lot of people enjoyed the ending.

As always, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but it’s always important to form your own opinion before judging it.

Tying into the movie scene, Halloween Ends, the long-anticipated finale to the Halloween series, is premiering tomorrow, October 14, 2022. Many fans are excited to see it, and they hope it lives up to the hype that’s created.

Overall, many fun things are coming this Halloween, and the students’ excitement will carry us through October. Hopefully, everyone can find their way to enjoying the spooky season!
