This past Friday, many Linsly School students enjoyed an all-inclusive dance class that was held on the school’s campus! This dance class was taught by Linsly students, Kelsey Glessner (Junior), Peyton Florence (Sophomore), and Olivia Kiger-Camilo (Junior), who all share a great love for dancing.
These Linsly students wanted to find a way to incorporate more dance opportunities into the Linsly experience, so that is exactly what they did! Glessner, Florence, and Kiger taught a beginner level dance class that focused on exploring movement and having fun. The class, open to all upper school students, was heavily geared towards creating a relaxing environment for students as they entered Performance Assessment week. After completing a simple yoga/stretch warm-up, an upbeat, beginner level dance combination, and finally, a yoga and guided meditation cool down, the students left the class feeling relaxed, refocused, and fulfilled with their experience.
Looking into the future, Glessner, Florence, and Kiger all have high hopes to continue teaching dance classes at Linsly. Starting next year, these three want to create a space, just as they did on Friday, where Linsly students can express themselves through the artform of dance. As for now, the Linsly community will continue to dance its way into the relaxing summer months, while awaiting the start of another great school year to come!
