On Sunday, May 1st, the foreign language department at Linsly held the annual World Language Ceremony, recognizing all of the students who were inducted into their respective language honor societies. The ceremony began with some introductory remarks by Mrs. Lisa Welch, chair of the World Language Department at Linsly.
After he remarks, she turned the ceremony over to Madison Hennen, who would introduce the French National Honor Society, also known as “La Société Honoraire de Francaise.” Mrs. Tiffany Brutto followed Hennen, and excitedly announced the newly inducted members. This year, 13 students were inducted and were pinned by several of the previously inducted members.
After the French students were inducted, the ceremony proceeded with the induction of the German students into Die Deutsche Ehrenverbindung. Mara Cartwright began the induction with a brief speech on the history and standards, then the pinning began. This year, there were a total of 8 students inducted into the society.
Following the German students, it was now time for the several Latin students to be inducted into the National Junior Classical League and Latin Honor Society. Mrs. Rebecca Brogan-Johnston presented and announced the awards achieved by her hard-working students, and Mr. Tyler Bickford handed out the certificates to the students. In the middle school a grand total of 28 students were inducted. In the upper school, 12 students were inducted.
Lastly, the event concluded with the Spanish Honor Society. Vanessa Eloundou Jimenez presented the introductory remarks, and then the pinning began. There were 25 students inducted into La Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica.
