Just Keep Swimming

It is 5:30 in the morning, and I drag myself out of bed. Barely awake, I attempt to get some food into my stomach before the long day ahead. I put on clothes to get warm, and prepare to face the bitter cold outside. My friends and I walk to the pool. As we get to the bottom of the hill, we meet up with our teammates, and make small talk to wake us up. Once we get there, it is already 6:25 AM, and we slowly put on our bathing suits. We then head over to the pool and get our temperatures taken before diving in. A quick stretch, and by 6:30 we are in our lane, doing our usual 400yd warm up. From 6:30 to 8 we continuously swim, do breathing drills, and timed races among our teammates in order to improve our times and technique. After a long school day, we reconvened in the Paull gym for dryland from 4-5 PM, these drills help us improve our swimming skills by working the right muscles. Both workouts combined made the team stronger and better prepared for the meets ahead. The girls won seven meets and lost one. The boys won seven meets and one was tied. At the final meet of the season, Shane McCready, Asier Doval, Frederico Colloca Bianchi, and Joao Lima broke the 200 free relay pool record with 1:33:60. Swim season, although short, was a successful one this year.
