Luke Hillebrand is from Washington, Pennsylvania, and he has been attending Linsly since fifth grade. In high school, Luke has been a member of the swim team for three years, earning a spot as captain for his senior year. In addition to swim, Luke has been a member of the lacrosse team for two consecutive years, becoming the manager this year. Luke presents great encouragement, enthusiasm, and love for his sports and his teammates. His freshman and sophomore year he volunteered at the Washington Hospital. Luke has received second honors, a great accomplishment, throughout his time at Linsly. Luke’s favorite Linsly memory is the annual Washington, D.C. trip that classes take in eighth grade.
“I remember having a lot of fun memories from that trip and all of the cool stuff we did as well.
Luke plans to attend High Point University in the fall to major in international business and consider minoring in Spanish. He is looking forward to exploring possible clubs and other organizations at High Point that he can become involved with. At Linsly, a special mentor to Luke is Mrs. Wallace. Luke says she has “helped [him] since freshman year to become not only a better student but a better person as well.” Luke also recognizes Mr. Brubaker, his swim coach, as a mentor that has been a large part of his experience growing up at Linsly. Giving advice to younger Linsly boarding school students, Luke believes it is important to avoid procrastination with your school work.
“We go to a boarding school where there are kids from all over the world [so] take advantage of that and make some new friends.”
