Linsly’s boarding community is officially up and running for the school year with 107 total dormers representing twenty-four different countries. A small group of fifteen to twenty athletes arrived early on August 3rd for preseason, followed by the rest of the boarding students for the main move-in day on August 16th. While a few international travel delays mean a couple of spots are still waiting to be filled, the dorms are almost at full capacity. Faculty members are already taking notice of the group’s solid start, with Mr. Seabright noting how impressed he is by the students’ active participation in their classes.
This semester also marks the official opening of Simmons Hall, the campus’s newest dormitory. The new dorming students moving in reported a smooth transition, mentioning that a “warm welcome” from staff and current students made it easy to settle in right away. Returning boarding students have played a big role in helping the new arrivals adjust to campus life, keeping the environment friendly and manageable. Another addition to Simmons Dorm is Mr. Morgan, his wife, and their new baby! Between the upgraded facilities and a strong start in the classroom, the boarding program is set up for a productive year.
