WHEELING, WV – This week was full of intense competitions of all types. As the fall season continues to wind down, games show no signs of stopping. Linsly athletes showed up and put in the hard work that it takes to win. Sports of all types were played this week, including volleyball, soccer, middle school football, and middle school volleyball.
To kick off the week, on Monday, the middle school 8th-grade volleyball team took on the Jr. Don’s in a quick game, bringing home a 2-0 win. It was a full team effort, but 8th grader Addie Lohri was the standout player, finishing with 3 assists, 1 dig, and 7 aces. On Tuesday, the JV and Varsity Volleyball teams travelled up to Oak Glen High School. The JV team battled through till the end, but just could not pull through, falling to Oak Glen 1-3. The varsity team had a hard-fought game, with each set being close, but couldn’t finish the job, falling to Oak Glen 1-3 as well.
Wednesday was full of games, including JV/Varsity volleyball, middle school volleyball, and middle school football. The JV volleyball team took on Clay Battelle with a slow start to the game. Linsly managed to power through and get the 3-1 win. The Varsity team had the hot hand, kicking off the game with a quick first set finish. They used this to their advantage, finishing off Clay Battelle in a 3-0 victory. Middle school volleyball travelled back to the Jr. Don’s again, putting on a show with another 2-0 win.
To round off the week, on Thursday, the girls’ soccer team took on Wheeling Park at their own pitch. The girls gave it their best effort, but could not pull through, falling to them 7-2. The boys’ soccer team played Wheeling Park as well, in an intense match. The game was even for the majority of the game, staying at 0-0. In the last minute of the game, Wheeling Park had a lucky bounce in the box, managing to kick one in. Linsly fell to Park 1-0, but in an exciting thriller.
