This week, the Linsly Line highlights Gianna White, a sixth grader who shares what a day in her life is like!
Gianna has been at Linsly since fifth grade. She starts her day at 7:00-if she wakes up to her alarm-works out, brushes her teeth, and gets dressed. For breakfast, Gianna typically eats toast or cinnamon bread. She and her brother then head to school and part ways to hang out with their friends before heading to class.
Gianna’s first class is German with Mrs. Welch at 8:20. Currently, they are learning about the Holocaust. In class, she also learns about German culture and traditions, including a project on German meals. She also practices German vocabulary and grammar to further her learning.
At 9:20, she heads to Pre-Algebra with Mrs. Dodd, where the class is learning about linear equations, finding the slope of a line, and parallel lines.
Gianna then walks to STEAM, a program at Linsly that promotes innovation, creative thinking, and problem-solving. Recently, students have been learning about wind energy and working on experiments to test this learning.
At 11:10, Gianna goes to middle school lunch and eats her favorite Linsly meal, orange chicken. Lunch is a great time for Gianna to talk to her friends and get a break from the school day.
Next up, Gianna goes to Gym & Health at 11:45. In gym, her favorite games to play with her friends are mat-ball and chaos-ball. During health, Gianna participates in a bullying skit to learn the importance of being kind and is creating a project on this topic.
At 12:55, Gianna has Social Studies with Mr. Pinarski. In class, she is learning about East Asia and Chinese history. The class has been discussing Chinese dynasties and important inventions. Throughout the year, they have projects on different countries in the Eastern Hemisphere and present them in class.
Gianna’s last class is Science with Mr. Massey, where they recently finished a unit on animal diversity and vertebrates. Currently, she is learning about plants and is working on a digital notebook.
After school, she goes home and starts her homework before she goes to practice for her activities. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, Gianna has softball practice from 6:30 to 8:00 where she practices hitting and playing 3rd base. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, she has basketball practice from 5:00 to 6:30, and on Mondays, she has piano lessons. Gianna expresses that softball is her favorite activity because her dad taught her when she was younger and they enjoyed watching and playing the sport together.
After practice, Gianna heads home and finishes her homework or studies for tests in her classes. She and her family then eat dinner together. Her favorite meal is pierogies with veggies on the side. At 9:30, she gets ready for bed to start a new day tomorrow.
Thanks for sharing your day as a Linsly student with us, Gianna!
