Pre-Show Jitters: Students and Faculty Prepare for the 86th Linsly Extravaganza!

Every year, students begin practicing for their act in the Linsly Extravaganza at their return from winter break. Whether students are in a dance, comedy, band, or backstage in prop or stage crew, every student is involved in the Linsly Extravaganza. This year, the show takes place Friday, February 28th, so students are gearing up to perform on the Capitol Theatre Stage in downtown Wheeling.

Linsly senior lifer, Addison Grubler, who has been in the extravaganza since fifth grade, explains, “It is definitely bittersweet. I have been in the extravaganza for eight years, so it’s always something I look forward to. I think that when I hit the stage, it’s going to become a reality that this part of my life is ending. It’s a great act to end this chapter of my Linsly career with, and I am so grateful for all of the memories I have had with my friends throughout the years.”

Remick Maroney, a 5th grade student and first time extravaganza performer explains how he feels leading up to the big night, “I am feeling excited and nervous at the same time. I am ready to go on stage, after we have been practicing for months. After watching my siblings do it for so long, it’s finally my time to shine.”

Chase Labritz, junior dormer and resident assistant, expresses, “It is cool that the whole school can get together and perform a show that is amazing. It’s important that it includes the dormers and brings unity between the dormers and day students, outside of the regular school day.”

Finally, Mrs. Bond, director and choreographer of the extravaganza, and the rest of the extravaganza crew and fine arts department, have been working hard since the beginning of the school year to put on a memorable show.

Mrs. Van Scyoc, head of the fine and performing arts department, explains the hard work leading up to the show, “This show comes together because of the efforts of every single student, faculty member, and employee of The Linsly School. Without the hard work and dedication of every single person, and the support from the community, this celebration of talent and effort would not exist.”

Overall, the entire Linsly community is ready to put on a memorable show, and is excited to show their talents this Friday night, at the 86th Linsly Extravaganza!
