Celebrating the Christmas Season with Family Traditions

Celebrating the Christmas Season with Family Traditions

With the upcoming Christmas season approaching, Linsly students and teachers share some of their favorite traditions that they enjoy doing during the holidays. These traditions are special and unique, which makes them so enjoyable!

To begin, theater arts teacher Mrs. Bond shared a few of the traditions her family participates in every year. Every year, she and her son, Jackson, leave cookies and milk for Santa and carrots for the reindeer. Another tradition is that they attend the Candlelight service every Christmas Eve at their church in Glendale.

Next, multimedia teacher, Mrs. Gregory, contributed the traditions that she has celebrated during the holidays. Every Christmas Eve, she has a Feast of Seven Fishes, an Italian dinner. They start with baccalà (cod) soup. Then, her family eats shrimp, smelts, calamari, angel hair with anchovy sauce, broiled white fish, and stuffed squid. After they eat this delicious meal, her family exchanges gifts and attends midnight mass.

Lastly, junior student and NHS member, Reese Maroney, celebrates Christmas by participating in family traditions. Every Christmas Eve, her family attends the church service, and then, when they get home, they read The Night Before Christmas. On Christmas Day, they watch A Christmas Story. When asked, Reese said, “For me, Christmas is the most magical time of the year.”

Linsly wishes all a happy holiday season and joyful Christmas traditions over break!
