This October, many sports finished up their fall season, and two athletes competing in fall sports have been recognized as the Linsly Line Athletes of the Month.
The Linsly Line Female Athlete of the Month for October is Arabella Andy. She is currently a senior captain and has been playing soccer since she was 4 years old, becoming Linsly’s goalkeeper her sophomore year. She has contributed tremendously to the Linsly Girls’ soccer team this year and upholds various accomplishments, such as saving 2 penalty kicks as well as saving over 20 shots against Central Catholic. Also, Arabella has been selected to participate in the 29th Annual OVAC Senior Soccer Classic. One of Arabella’s takeaways from soccer is to never give up despite the hardships that challenge one’s perseverance. Her favorite memory while playing soccer has been spending time with her fellow seniors before practice. She finds her motivation in the team and her constant aspiration to win for them. Thank you, Arabella, for your contribution to the Linsly Girls’ Soccer Team.
The Linsly Line Male Athlete of the Month for October goes to Jakob Schmidt-Weigand. Jakob is currently a junior at Linsly and has been running cross country for two years at Linsly. He feels his biggest accomplishment was beating the school’s record at the OVCCL championship with an impressive time of 16:24 for a 5k.
Jakob finds his motivation in victories and the feeling of accomplishment after a good run, stating, “Pain is just weakness leaving the body.”
While most may find this hard to believe, Jakob claims that even running can be fun when done with friends! His favorite memories with his team include ultimate frisbee, fun relays, and team dinners. Jakob gives special thanks to his coaches and teammates who supported him throughout the 2024 season. Thank you, Jakob, for your contribution to the Linsly Cross Country team and best of luck in the upcoming track season!
Congratulations to the Linsly Line Athletes of the Month for October!
