The Linsly girls started off this year with the annual Girls’ Tea. Every year, Mrs. Zimmerman plans and invites the Linsly girls to her house for The Tea. Mrs. Zimmerman explains that the Girls’ Tea is an annual tradition that began in 1988, which was the first year girls were able to attend Linsly. Mrs. Zimmerman continues, “So to welcome girls back, Mrs. Karen DiOrio, wife of then Headmaster DiOrio, and Mrs. Cheryl Sprague, Linsly’s first female administrator and Dean of the Upper School, hosted the first tea on campus at the Headmaster’s home.” The Tea is a great way for friends to reconnect from over the summer, and meet new students that will be in their classes. Additionally, the teachers also attend, which is a great way for new students to meet their teachers, as well as new teachers meet their students.
The tea includes beautiful platters of food ranging from cut fruit and drinks, to sandwiches and desserts, all made by Food Service Director Mrs. Michelle DeFazio and her staff. Mrs. Zimmerman explains, “It is my pleasure to welcome the Linsly girls to my home each year, and I look forward to many more teas in the years to come. It is a joy for me to spend the afternoon meeting new students and welcoming returning students back to campus.” The Linsly girls thank Mrs. Zimmerman and the rest of the community for a wonderful annual Girls’ Tea!
