Teacher Spotlight: Mrs. Ratkiewicz

Teacher Spotlight: Mrs. Ratkiewicz

Mrs. Ratkiewicz is starting her 3rd year in the English department at Linsly. Each year her 10th grade students dive into the world of American literature. They will be reading classics such as The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne.

Mrs. Ratkiewicz has been teaching English for 24 years. Prior to teaching at Linsly she taught at Vincentian Academy, a Private Catholic International Baccalaureate School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She completed her undergraduate degree at Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA and her graduate degrees at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.

Mrs. Ratkiewicz enjoys cooking. Her favorite foods are seafood, potato chips, dark chocolate, and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Her favorite vacation spot is Ocean City, Maryland which she describes as laid-back and happy. She used to go to Bethany Beach and loved getting crepes at a local restaurant.

Mrs. R has two kids, one of which just started 5th grade at The Linsly School. She lives with her family in Washington, PA. Congratulations to Mrs. R for finishing her last chemo treatment two weeks ago!

Current senior Avery Gilman had Mrs. R during her first year at Linsly. She loved her class, for “Mrs. R clearly cares about her students and how they achieve their goals. She is a symbol of strength and an inspiration to all women.”

We have loved getting to know Mrs. R these past three years, and we are looking forward to many more with her!
