The advanced ceramics program at Linsly is one of great prestige and talent. Run by the fine arts teacher, Mr. Gellner, the course revolves around creating projects with purpose and complete effort. The five students that make up this year’s advanced ceramics class include: Liv Torner, Abbey Barack, Almatbek Zhexen, Avery Sadlowski, and Maddie Taylor. Each of these students were selected by Mr. Gellner to be a part of this course, as he saw a considerable amount of talent within their ceramic work created in past school years.
The advanced ceramics students study a variety of ceramic techniques such as hand crafting, wheel, and sculpting. The learning of these techniques has led to many artistic discoveries and creations among the students. These creations were most recently showcased as centerpieces in the school’s art show and received a great amount of positive feedback from viewers. Despite these successes, the advanced ceramics students enjoy the memories made with one another the most.
This tight-knit group is going to miss their time spent together in their artistic abode in the basement of the art building. These students have gained inspiration from one another throughout this course and have learned to stay perseverant throughout their work as well as supportive throughout their peers’. Much growth has happened for the advanced ceramics students this year and all of their thanks go out to Mr. Gellner for the wonderful impact he has had upon their individual experiences.
The students within this year’s advanced ceramics class have been working hard to create artwork that they are proud of! For a look into some students’ art, please see the images below:
