Bonjour! Hallo! Salve! Hola! Hello!
This past week the language departments held the National Language Fair for 7th graders. Although their languages are chosen for them in 7th grade, in 8th grade they get to choose the language they are most interested in. 8th graders and upper school students already taking the language volunteered to help. Some students made cookies, decorations, and even photo booths to show off their unique language and culture. The 7th graders had the opportunity to ask students taking German, Latin, French, or Spanish questions to help narrow down their decision. Students in Mrs. Leone’s graphic design class got the chance to make a new logo for the fair. There were a variety of amazing choices, but Sydney Gilman’s won overall.
It was a great experience for our seventh graders who will be studying the language of their choosing in the fall.
