This past Tuesday, the Linsly hockey team faced the Wheeling Park Patriots at Wesbanco Arena. This is the first time the Cadets have played the Patriots this season, but they are expected to play again later in the season.
Coming into the game, the Cadets had a big win over rivals Wheeling Central. Linsly carried the momentum into the first period with an early goal by senior Brendan Moore. Wheeling Park retaliated with a goal of their own before the close of the first period.
The second period was extremely competitive with the score tied with one all. Another goal by Brendan Moore, however, gave Linsly the lead once again. The third period remained score-less thanks to Linsly’s stronger defense and goaltending.
Goals scored by Brendan Moore and great goaltending by Kayden Hiryok led the Cadets to a 2-1 victory over the Patriots. The Linsly student section was lively from start to finish, cheering on the team for a much wanted win. The Linsly hockey team will be in action again Monday, December 5th against Chartiers Valley. Puck drops at 7:15 at Wheeling Park Ice Rink.
