Both the Girls and Boys Track Team from Linsly competed in OVAC’s this past Saturday (May 7th). Semifinals took place on Wednesday, May 4th. Overall, 14 girls and 18 boys qualified for finals. On Saturday, the boys earned the first place title and the girls secured the third place title. The teams worked hard, resulting in many first place and runner up finishes.
For the boys, 7 first place titles were obtained. The 4×100 team of Jy’Leik Johnson, Malte Feil, Atley Cowan, and Colby Gibbons, and the 4×200 team of Felix Reitter, Malte, Atley, and Santiago Graneros both won first place in the 3A Division. Felix also won the 400 in the 3A Division. Jy’Leik won the 200 in the 3A Division, and he was the overall champion in the 100. The 3A Shuttle Hurdle Relay was won by George Donovic, Lane Kendzerski, Colby Gibbons, and Riku Vilenius. The boys were even successful in the field events, as Dubale Greathouse won high jump and Hayden Bozich was runner up in shot put.
The girls also finished OVAC’s strong, for long distance runner Ally Hicks broke the school record for the 3200. Her final time was 12:37.35, breaking the record by .09 seconds. Ally also placed 3rd in the 1600. Danyelle Dunlevy won the 3A 100 Hurdles, and came in third for the 200 in the 3A Division. Haylen Cook was runner up in the 3A 300 hurdles, and the 4×200 team of Haylen, Danyelle, Sol Marcera, and Caitlyn Lewis placed 2nd in the 3A Division. The 4×800 team of Liv Torner, Ally Hicks, Ilayna Murray, and Maddalena Tibaldo also placed 2nd. In high jump, Kelsey Glessner tied for 2nd place, and Elle Ranney placed 3rd in shot put.
Everyone worked hard on Saturday and contributed to the overall success of both teams. There is just one more meet left until both teams conclude their seasons. Congratulations to everyone who participated in OVAC’s!
