Linsly freshman Victoria Walsh received the opportunity of a lifetime: marching in the renown Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. Walsh, a cheerleader for both Linsly and local competitive team, Fire and Ice, was thrilled to find out that she was given the chance to march in the parade. Back in April of this year, Walsh sent in a video application. Finally, after 7 long months, she heard back and was notified that she was accepted into the parade. She was one of 300 other participants, and was also joined by another cheerleader from a local school.
Prior to Thanksgiving day, Walsh and her mother ventured through Times Square, watched the Rockettes perform, and attended two broadway plays: Wicked and Six. In the days leading up to the parade, Walsh felt a mixture of emotions. She states:
There was a lot of waiting and anxiety building up. I was excited, but so scared of messing up.
Overall, Walsh expressed how indescribable and amazing this experience was for her. She also notes how incredible it was to see all of the iconic landmarks in the city that everyone would always talk about.
Congratulations, Victoria, on this extraordinary opportunity!
