With the start of a new school year comes the need for new supplies. It is important for a student to have the right materials in order for them to succeed during the year! Without the proper supplies, one may become unorganized or be unprepared for classes. Here is our list of the top ten school supplies recommended to be a successful student:
- 1. Planner – It is crucial to have a planner in order to stay organized. When a student loses track of their obligations, they may miss important assignments’ due dates and have their grades drop. These issues can be avoided by using a planner to write down homework, tests, and projects.
- 2. Binders – Another important aspect of a successful school year is binders. Binders help keep a student’s paper in the same place for one class. It is best to have multiple binders in order to keep classes separate. This is a great way for students to make sure that they have everything they need for a class all in the same place, making it easier for them to readily access their needed materials!
- 3. Folders – Folders are nice when there is a homework assignment that doesn’t require the entire class binder to be taken home. They make it easier to carry things and to locate assignments that are due the next day, while reducing the need to search through an entire binder to locate one paper.
- 4. Notebooks or paper – Having both notebooks and loose-leaf paper is a great idea! If a student does not want to fill their binder with loose-leaf paper, they can use a notebook to keep all of their notes for that class in. It is still important to keep a binder for handouts, but it allows for the student to carry a smaller, lighter binder.
- 5. Pens and pencils – Pens and pencils are an absolute school necessity! It is important to carry extra since these are easily lost, lent out, or simply run out of ink/lead.

- 8. Laptop or Tablet – Linsly requires either a laptop or a tablet for each student. This is a great resource to use to do research, communicate with teachers, or do certain homework assignments. It is important that the student knows how to use the device in order to achieve maximum results.
- 9. Index cards – Index cards are a wonderful study tool to help students study for major tests, and are a great way to review main ideas or vocabulary.
