After missing out on their season last year due to COVID-19, the softball team was eager to get back on the field. The girls proved their dedication as they put in countless hours toward bettering themselves as players and teammates. The team practiced every opportunity they could with three-hour practices over the weekend. Although it was a much different season, the team worked hard and made the most of every opportunity. In 38 days, the team played over 30 games, finishing out the season with a winning record.
Despite OVACs being in the first two weeks of the season, the girls managed to make the semi-finals as the number four seed. Unfortunately, they were defeated by this year’s 3A champion, Martins Ferry.
While the season did not go exactly as the team would have hoped, the girls came back every practice ready to work harder than the day before. The team’s effort paid off as they competed closely with big schools; Weir, Brooke, and John Marshall. The girls and coaches will miss the three seniors, but they look forward to coming back next season ready to compete for the OVAC title.
