It is safe to say the most common phrase in the last 365 days has been “when all of this is over I can’t wait to…” Of course, everyone wants this horrific pandemic to end and “return to normal life,” but when and how will that exactly happen? Slowly some countries are beginning to reopen while others have just been put back into lockdown. According to Dr. Fauci, the United States won’t be completely back to normal until the beginning of fall 2021. As frustrating as this sounds, the hope is that the closer we get to that time of the year, the more normal life starts to become. According to the CDC, 19,107,159 vaccine doses have been administered as of January 22, 2021. Healthcare workers and the government are working very hard to increase the number of vaccine doses administered every day. The vaccine is our best shot at returning to normal, and it is my hope that everybody will receive one as soon as possible.
As of right now, the Linsly School has been able to return to in-person school with both middle and high school students. Many high school students agree that returning to in-person helps life to feel more normal, and they enjoy seeing their friends at school. Although when asked, many students also agreed that getting back into this in-person routine is more exhausting than their usual online routine. As a whole, the majority of the student body seems to really appreciate the ability to return to in-person school, and many are grateful for the opportunity to see familiar faces every day. Hopefully by fall 2021, in-person school will be a guarantee, but for right now the students are grateful for the days that we all get to be in one building.
