Day in the Life of a Linsly 10th Grader – Christopher Upton

Continuing the ‘Day in the Life” series, Christopher Upton, sophomore class Vice President, takes us through a day in his life!

Chris starts his busy day by waking up at 5:30, and heads to the gym. Chris lives on campus with his family, so he utilizes the Linsly Stifel Field House to workout in the mornings. He heads back home at 7:00, where he then showers, gets dressed and brushes his teeth, before heading up to school at 7:40 to eat breakfast with some of his friends. Chris then heads to Precalculus with Mrs. Nau at 8:20, where they have recently been learning about Radians and Area. His second period class, Chemistry, starts at 9:25, and they have started a new unit on Emission Spectrum. At 10:30, Chris heads to leadership class, where the sophomore class is currently creating “Why?” statements to find their purpose in life. His next class is English at 11:10, where his class is discussing the Great Gatsby. His class talks until 11:40, where they take a short break for lunch until 12:20. Chris’ favorite lunch is a Linsly favorite: chicken sandwiches! After heading back to English and continuing his discussion, Chris heads to his next class, French, at 12:55. Mrs. Brutto is currently teaching new vocabulary, and has her students practicing by writing on the desks, and playing review games. Finally, at 2:00, Chris has his last class of the day, Intro to Programming. They are currently learning about “for loops” and are given exercises to practice.

At 3:00, Chris heads home to get ready for a intense baseball practice at 3:30. His practice lasts until around 5:30, but Chris normally stays after for extra practice. At 6:00, he goes home and eats lasagna with his family. After his shower, Chris spends a good portion of the evening hanging out with his family. After a busy day of academics and baseball, Chris finds it important to spend some time with his family to unwind from the day. At 7:45, Chris works on homework and prepares for the next day. At 9:30 he brushes his teeth, and at 9:45 he goes to bed.

Chris’ day is a perfect example of finding a balance between athletics, academics, and family time. He has a busy day, but accomplishes many things!
