It is that time of the year: spring sports have started and so far, Linsly’s teams are excelling! The 2022 varsity baseball team consists of: Adam Och, Brodie Selmon, Jack Selmon, Collin Paull, Trey Prather, Luca Dilorenzo, Cade Costanzo, Jack Scouvart, Alex Taylor, Xavier Fankhouser, Caden Horvath, Chad Frazier, Dillon Wilson, Andrew Skadra, Aiden Christ, and Landin Blakely.
So far this season, the boys are undefeated. The first game they played was against Weir, and Linsly scored 7 runs in the first inning. Adam Och and Collin Paull racked up doubles while Trey Prather, Luca Dilorenzo, and Brodie Selmon scored singles. Selmon got the win on the mound, but Prather came in relief to finish the game out. This game ended with a score of 11-4, with Linsly winning.
The second game of the season was against Cameron. Cade Costanzo threw a great game, but Dilorenzo came in relief. Alex Taylor and Dilorenzo both had key knocks to secure the win. Costanzo got the win on the mound. Once again, Linsly won with a score of 13-3.
Next, the boys played University. Brodie Selmon started on the mound for the cadets. He let up one run in the game with his brother, Jack Selmon, who came in relief in the 5th inning. The Cadets’ lineup came to hit and put up 15 runs against the Hawks and Selmon got the win on the mound. This was a huge win for the team with a score of 15-1!
Weirton Madonna was the fourth game of the season for the baseball team. Collin Paull started on the mound against Madonna. Adam Och hit a double that scored a couple of runs, putting the Cadets in the lead. Och also came in relief for Paull in the 5th inning to finish out the game, and Paull got the win on the mound.
