Linsly Prefects Host a “Pink Day” to Support Breast Cancer

On Friday, October 30th, the Linsly Community Service Prefect Committee planned a “Pink Day” with the goal of raising money for the Reach to Recovery West Virginia-American Cancer Society program. October is national breast cancer awareness month, and Linsly students have often held fundraisers in the past to help raise money to support those who struggle with the illness. Students were able to dress down and wear pink if they made a donation.

The money that was raised from this dress down day will go to the Reach to Recovery program. This program has volunteers that can call or chat with individuals who may be facing a breast cancer diagnosis, recurrence, advanced-stage breast cancer, considering treatment, experiencing lymphedema, and patients who have completed treatment. These volunteers give patients an opportunity to talk about their feelings and ask questions. In situations like these, having support is very important.

In addition to getting to dress down, participants in Pink Day also received a pink ribbon to wear. Overall, the turnout was exceptional and the Prefects hope to continue this event in the future.
